Proboscis monkeys are only found in certain parts of Borneo.

The monkeys inhabit forests newer coastal swamps or those containing

rivers and lakes. 

The Labuk Bay Proboscis Monkey Sanctuary is located in the center of the mangrove forest of Semawang, which is only 30 minutes drive away. 

This is a privately owned sanctuary which is located in an oil palm estate. This sanctuary grants you the chance of observing the Proboscis Monkeys up close. The male Proboscis monkeys have big dangling noses, reddish flat-top hairstyles, white tails and markings and pot bellies while the females are much smaller in size and have up-turned noses. 

The long nose monkey

Get up and close with the long nose monkey at this privately own sanctuary. You will have the chance to observe the Proboscis Monkeys both young and adults leaping from tree to tree and eventually coming down to feed on young leaves, plants and rice cakes.
